Luanda - The minister of Tourism, Márcio Daniel, highlighted this Wednesday, in the Republic of Zambia, the impact of the sector on creating jobs in countries in the Kavango-Zambezi (KAZA) cross-border region.
The Angolan official intervened in the high-level debate between the ministers of the sector of the five partners in the region, namely, Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The high-level meeting took place as part of a summit of Heads of State, says a note from the supervisory ministry sent this Thursday to ANGOP.
Márcio Daniel addressed the impact of tourism from the perspective of job creation, one of the main guarantees of sustainable exploitation of resources in the KAZA cross-border region.
He highlighted that the existence of a joint conservation area requires combined action by the region's member states so that it become a world-class tourists destination and ensures the positive impact of the economic exploitation of this area's resources on local communities.
One of the highlights of the meeting, the document adds, was the official launch of the “Rivers of Life” tourism destination brand, which marked a pivotal moment in the region's journey to promote sustainable tourism conservation and community empowerment in partner countries.
The Rivers of Life brand is rich in natural and cultural diversity for all who love wildlife without borders, the note reads.
