Lubango - A survey by the platform www.hoteisangola.com shows that August was the best month in terms of accommodation in Angola and that Lubango, the capital of southern Huíla province, was the municipality most sought after by tourists, attracted by the Nossa Senhora do Monte festivities.

The data presented shows that Angola is growing in terms of tourist demand and research, whose figures are based exclusively on searches made on the platform, a constant promotional effort carried out by the hoteisangola.com team, whose focus is to publicise the site's partners, the research indicates.

Next on the list is Huambo, followed by Benguela, Lobito and Malanje, the latter being one of the municipalities where the platform has no partners, so customers are recommended to hotels in neighbouring municipalities.

Of the 10 most popular hotels on the page, Huíla has three, namely Pululukua Resort, Hotel Serra da Chela and Kimbo do Soba, followed by Benguela with two, Aparthotel Mil Cidades and CV Lodge.

The majority of tourists are Portuguese, with 84.26 per cent, according to the promoter, followed by Portuguese (5.93 per cent), Brazilians (1.63 per cent), South Africans (0.92 per cent), British (0.82 per cent), Americans (0.65 per cent), Namibians (0.59 per cent), French (0.57 per cent), Spaniards (0.47 per cent) and Mozambicans (0.37 per cent).

As for bookings by province, Benguela comes top with 29%, Huíla follows with 17 and Huambo completes the top three with 16.3%. Uíge is in last place with 0.0%.

The survey reveals that the provinces and municipalities with the greatest number of partnerships and the most publicity are the most sought-after in terms of tourist movement in the national territory.

It also points out that the events in the city of Lubango are ‘extremely’ important for tourism demand and movement, pointing out the difficulties, in general, of communication (places with many internet problems), mobilisation or interconnection between operators and poor training/knowledge of the structure of the sector.

Even so, there is the ability to show the local public the importance of the sector in local development, continually investing in staff training, creating more digital information on the tourism potential of the regions, mobilising and encouraging visitors to share images and experiences on social networks and making operators feel the need to take the internet to the various corners of Angola.

These results were obtained from a total of 80,896 unique visits to the portal between 1 and 31 August, giving rise to a daily average of 2,610. MS/DAN/DOJ
