Lubango – The city of Lubango, Huíla’s province capital, will host from the 2nd to the 4th of May this year, the seventh edition of the International Tourism Fair (BITUR), an initiative of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, in partnership with Arena Events.

The six previous editions, since 2018, all took place in Luanda, the country's capital.

The director-general of the Institute for Tourist Promotion (INFOTUR), Afonso Vita, said in a press conference Saturday that the exhibition is expected to bring together countries such as, South Africa, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Cabo Verde, Brazil, Portugal and Spain, and more than 500 visitors per day.

He considered that the activity, to be carried out under the motto: “Tourism as a determining factor for the diversification of the economy in Angola” will also be called Bitur Okavango 2024, with the participation of more than 70 companies.

“Entries will be free and services will be divided by national and foreign sectors and operators, an opportunity to share business, given that the conditions have already been created and, within days, the process of assembling stands for this purpose will begin”, he said.

He highlighted that other areas will also be defined for holding gastronomy fairs and a stage for cultural entertainment, in order to demonstrate the artistic potential of what is produced on the African continent.

The team, which has been in Lubango city since Thursday, visited hotel infrastructures and historical places, such the Tundavala Gap, the cascade of Huíla and the Lubango Viewpoint. JT/MS/CF/DOJ
