Lubango – The provinces of Huíla, Benguela, Luanda, Namibe, Malanje, Cuando Cubango and Zaire were selected as priority destinations for tourists, as they have quality roads and hotels, considered strategic tourist resources, in addition to their potential.

The selection was made by the Tourism Promotion Institute (INFORTUR) and took into account 15 exclusive strategic resources, including access and hotels.

In the first phase, it was announced on Saturday in Lubango by its manager, Afonso Vita, noting that due to the improvement of these indicators, other provinces are being integrated.

He detailed that at Lubango level, places such as Tundavala, one of the seven wonders of Angola, as well as the Serra da Leba Viewpoint have already been selected, while in Namibe there are Colinas do Curoca and Lagoas do Arco, places where equipment installed to facilitate tourists.

Speaking as part of the preparations for the seventh International Tourism Exchange (Bitur), Afonso Vita, highlighted that although they present necessary conditions, there is an urgent need for the private sector to contribute to the improvement of these places.

He highlighted, for example, the tourist site of Tundavala, where more social facilities such as bathrooms, shops selling handicrafts and food still need to be included, to attract more tourists.

“There is also a need to place strategic tourist resources in these locations, parking lots, photography spaces and an observatory with greater security to protect visitors,” he said.

Regarding the progress of the Tourism Development Plan in Angola, he stated that it brings together an incentive and a line of credit to support investors in the sector, aiming to increasingly leverage the national economy.

For the person responsible, this factor was one of the biggest plans needed to boost tourism in the country and the Executive fulfilled its role in this regard, which will allow the creation of the necessary conditions for its dissemination and also access to credit.

For him, the line of credit will allow anyone who wants to build a small 26-room project to do so more easily and without bureaucracy.

He recalled that a technical survey was carried out within the eight provinces and after that it was submitted for evaluation and approval at the level of the Council of Ministers, with its operationalization starting this year, which will guarantee a boost to the sector in all aspects.
