Luanda –The Minister of Tourism, Márcio Daniel, on Friday in the Zambian city of Livingstone, reiterated the Angolan government's commitment to working together with the member states of the Kavango-Zambezi cross-border region to make the tourist destination in the area an international benchmark.
Speaking at the close of the Summit of Heads of State of the Kavango-Zambezi cross-border conservation área, the minister underscored the commitment of the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, to dedicate special attention to tourism, as he considers it a key sector in the strategy to diversify the country’s economy.
According to the minister, Angola's presence at the summit is a reflection of the Angolan state's firm commitment to working with the member countries to achieve the vision and materialize the major objectives set out in the region's treaty, signed in 2011 at the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit.
“The most important thing is the spirit of unity that reigns within all the member states and the unequivocal will to continue working cohesively to overcome all the obstacles that have conditioned the full materialization of the vision and objectives of this laudable regional integration initiative”, he said.
According to a note to which ANGOP had access, the official said Angola is a country with world-class tourism resources, which is why he defends the need to move on from “a potential tourist destination, into a proper tourist destination”.
Márcio Daniel also thanked the development partners, international organizations, representatives of the partner states and members of the community who have contributed so much to making Kavango-Zambezi (KAZA) a reality.
