Talatona – An Angolan delegation participates in the “ 1st United Nations Tourism Africa & Americas Summit”, to attract investment in tourism, which takes place on October 2 to 5, in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, ANGOP has learnt.

The country's delegation is represented by the Minister of Tourism, Márcio Daniel, who will take part in the high-level panel called "Training in Tourism: Building a better tomorrow, today".

Co-organized by the Dominican Republic and the UN Tourismbody, the event aims to bring two regions closer together in terms of tourism under the motto “Promoting South-South cooperation, through investment in Education, Culture, Creative Industries and Innovation”.

Márcio Daniel is expected to display Angola's strategy for staff training and the tourism development plan for the economy, a process already being implemented, within the scope of the National Tourism Promotion Plan (PLANATUR).

The three-day event opened by David Collado, Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, will include strategic meetings, presentations and high-level sessions, with the participation of ministers, academics, experts and industry actors from both regions, who will discuss challenges, investment opportunities, sustainable practices, tourist accessibility, innovation, culture, history and opportunities for mutual growth between the two continents.

In 2023, Africa and America together recorded around 267 million international tourist arrivals totaling 371 billion US dollars in export revenue for the economies of their respective countries, while in 2018-2023, the two regions recorded the creation of 131,763 jobs.

The summit is expected to adopt the Punta Cana Declaration, an instrument that will promote South-South cooperation, based on investment, training and cultural and creative industries.
