Luanda - The Minister of Transport, Ricardo D'Abreu, recently called on the professionals of the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) in Luanda to work towards the implementation of concrete measures to reduce the number of road accidents in the country.
In his congratulatory message to the ANTT staff, who celebrated the agency's third anniversary on December 21, the minister said that road safety helps reduce the loss of human life on the country's roads.
The Minister stressed that accidents have a tragic impact on the lives of hundreds of Angolan families, which requires concrete measures to reduce this phenomenon, which is the second leading cause of death in Angola after malaria.
Ricardo D'Abreu also warned the National Land Transport Agency to redouble its efforts to speed up Angola's accession to the United Nations conventions on road safety.
The Minister mentioned the updating of ANTT's Organic Statute and the Integrated Traffic Management System (SGIT 2.0) as the Agency's main priorities, as they are essential tools for the effective fulfillment of professionals' competencies.
Regarding the 3rd anniversary of the ANTT, Ricardo D'Abreu acknowledged that the institution has played an essential role in planning, regulating, supervising and promoting the safety and sustainability of the sector in the country.CPM/QCB/TED/AMP
