Lubango – Angola is in the final phase of creating an unlimited virtual data storage system (Cloud), which is scheduled to come into operation anytime next year, the director general of the National Development Institute of the Information Society (INFOSI), Pedro André revealed today, in Lubango City.

Cloud storage is a computing model that allows data and files to be stored on the Internet through a related computing provider that the user accesses using the public Internet or a dedicated private network connection.

Without increasing the costs and capacity of the Cloud, when speaking at the Forum on Digital Governance, addressed to public and private managers in the province of Huíla, Pedro André stated that this unlimited cloud will allow the provision of scientific services and broader technological development, serving all segments of Angolan society and better protecting the information society.

On the other hand, he announced that another 10 centers of the Angola Digital project will come into operation in the country next week, joining the 66 existing in primary schools, designated IT rooms duly equipped with computers and internet.

He also highlighted that the Government has installed 136 free internet points across the country, a social responsibility that aims to promote digital inclusion programs, in order to awaken people's digital awareness.

The event, the first of its kind, brought together provincial directors, representatives of different public and private secondary and higher education institutions, municipal administrators, government officials, as well as journalists.
