Saurimo – The chief of the town of Muandongi, Herculano de Abreu, about 15 kilometers from Saurimo (Lunda-Sul capital city), asked the provincial government today, Thursday, for more investments in the electricity, water, basic sanitation and in agriculture to improve the lives of its inhabitants.
Speaking to ANGOP, as part of the dialogue that the governor, Daniel Neto, has maintained in the neighborhoods, he stated that during the rainy season, the access road has caused many constraints on the mobility of people and means, due to its state of degradation.
He explained that the area also struggles with problems of decent housing, most of which are made of adobes and wattle and daub, which is why there is an urgent need to build block housing to protect families, which are mostly elderly.
On the other hand, urged on the importance of the Census/2024 to take place on the 19th of July, Soba Muandongi reiterated the need for families to join and facilitate the work, as it will be beneficial for the Executive to outline credible policies that aim to contribute and reduce hunger and poverty in communities.
He said that in the specific meetings he holds with families, he has passed on information in Cokwe (local traditional language) and Portuguese about the Census, appealing to them not to leave the house unnecessarily on the exact day, facilitating the work of the teams, which will allow the database to have the real or approximate number of the population throughout the national territory.
The Population and Housing Census will take place in 562 communes and 164 municipalities in the country's 18 provinces.
The 2014 statistical record, the 2nd census operation that the country carried out, indicated that the province of Lunda-Sul had 537,587 inhabitants.
