Lubango - The Migration and Foreigners Service (SME) in southern Huila province has collected 39.9 million kwanza for the Single Treasury Account from fines applied to foreigners for illegally staying in the country in 2023.
Compared to the same period in 2022, there has been an increase of 24.8 million kwanzas in revenue as a result of fines applied to 20 from a total of 73 illegal migrants who overstayed in Huíla.
Speaking to ANGOP the director of the local SME, Rui Nelson Santiago, said the foreigners fined for overstaying were from Cuba, Portugal, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia and India.
At least 1,840 foreigners are currently in Huila province for laser, work and stay. BP/MS/DAN/AMP
