New York - Seven young Angolans have been selected for the second phase of the United Nations Young Professionals Programme in Economic Affairs and Information Systems and Technology exam, ANGOP learned on Saturday.
The candidates, of which two are female, were notified for the written test of the 2nd phase, to be held between the months of January and February 2024.
The UN Young Professionals Programme is an initiative to recruit talented and highly qualified professionals to start a career as an international civil servant in the United Nations Secretariat.
The Programme consists of an examination process for admission and professional development, as successful candidates begin their career at the United Nations Secretariat.
Each year, countries that are under-represented or not represented in the UN system, such as Angola, are invited to participate in the examination process.
The Young Professionals Program exam is held once a year in different subject areas depending on the needs of the UN.
Applicants must be nationals of a participating Member State, be 32 years of age or younger, hold a bachelor's degree or an equivalent 3-year diploma relevant to the area of the examination and fluency in English or French.
Successful candidates will be offered a two-year fixed-term contract at the beginning of their professional career at the UN and will be subject to satisfactory performance that will qualify them for a continuous contract. VM/DOJ
