Luanda - A National Meeting of Media staff will be the high point of the World Press Freedom Day celebrations in Angola.
Organised by the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technology and Media, the event will take place under the slogan "For an inclusive and participative Media".
ANGOP learned that the meeting will be led by senior journalists of the sector, such as Luísa Ribeiro, Ismael Mateus, Mariana Ribeiro and Ikuma Bamba.
The meeting will have several panels, such as "Current state of press freedom in Angola, with approaches on "The role of public and private media for press freedom," "The contribution of journalists to press freedom versus Ethics and professional deontology.
The programme also includes a panel on "Training, dignifying and valuing journalists", focusing on the "Importance of training for the elevation and guarantee of press freedom".
The World Press Freedom Day was created by UNESCO to alert about the impunity committed against hundreds of journalists who are tortured or murdered as a result of persecution for information gathered and published by these professionals.
