New bridges planned for Cavaco River in Benguela

Lobito - The authorities of the centre-west Benguela Province plan the construction, in the short/medium term, of new bridges along the river Cavaco, in the provincial capital, to improve the traffic flow in the only existing one, ANGOP learned this Thursday.

According to Governor Luís Nunes, who was speaking to journalists during a visit to the site of the emergency work in the coast of the province, it is equally planned the construction of a ring road in this region, in order to stop the movement of trucks in the urban areas.


In the city of Benguela, the members of the delegation visited the Archeology Museum and toured the Morena Beach area, where they evaluated its requalification.

 

Angop learned that the area will have a police station for site security.


In Catumbela, there was visiting of the Water Treatment Station (ETA) in order to gain information about its operational status, as well as its ability to supply water; the recently opened University Campus, which houses the courses of Katyava Bwila University was also visited.


In Lobito, a visit was paid to the ascending section of the EN100 road, which leads to the uptown, the Tchapanguele market, Avenida Cerveira Pereira and the cinema Flamingo, projects currently under execution.


Along the way, the governor answered several questions from the journalists and took the opportunity to state that the focus is to accelerate the projects that have already been started.

"The deadline for the emergency works would be five years, but we are putting in extra efforts to ensure that it is carried out in just three years", said the governor.

At the end of the meeting, he appealed to the press to help publicize the works for public knowledge, both nationally and internationally.

The Provincial Government's emergency works for the cities of Lobito, Catumbela, Benguela and Baía Farta benefited from financing of 415 million euros from the United Kingdom and are being carried out by the British company ASCG.
