Technology programme to increase digital literacy

Luanda – Angola government has launched an Innovation and Technology Transfer Programme with the aim to increase digital literacy and promote development of the country and its real economy, in a sustainable and modern way.

The goal is to aid the scientific development and the technological innovation processes as well as the technology transfer of thousands of Angolans and several institutions through different public and private partnerships.

 

Coordinated by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, in collaboration with the ministries of Economy and Planning and of Industry and Trade, the programme is being implemented all over the country and seeks to boost technological modernization, innovation and digital inclusion, as part of the strategy to strengthen and expand innovation and technological development.

 

One of the main benefits of technological innovation and transformation is the reduction of expenses for the accomplishment of a certain task, better and greater use of time and easier way to perform tasks.

 

New technologies have enabled processes and ways of working and studying to be automated and performed  more efficiently, which eliminates manual errors and decreases the time needed for the execution of various activities.

 

Overall, technological innovation has allowed for increased productivity with fewer resources, but with results for all and progressive.

 

Allied to the technological transformation and innovation programme, the Angolan government says it has projected the creation of infrastructures for scientific and technological development to stimulate and promote innovation and creativity in universities.

 

Among the set of completed and ongoing projects, highlight goes on the construction of a Science and Technology Development Park in Luanda, which includes several engineering specialties and management models.

 

In light of the goals of the technological transformation and innovation programme, in the 2018 – 2021 period, 45 innovation projects of start-ups or companies were created in several Higher Education Institutions of the country.

 

Mass Media

 

In the last five years, Angola improved its position in the ranking of the world's Press Freedom developed and promoted by the NGO "Reporter without Borders".

 

Out of a total of 180 countries in the world, Angola occupies position 99.

 

The government says it looks at the public media outlets RNA, TPA, Edições Novembro and Angop, as indispensable means for the materialization of its strategy and development programmes.

 

The “professional qualifier”, which comes to dignify the social condition and valorization of the media professionals, is currently being implemented all over the country.

 

 

Telecommunications

 

Investments in 5G technology are driving the progress, diversification and modernization of the country's industry.

 

The goal is to make communications easier and more accessible to facilitate and normalize access to public services in all areas of life, reduce waiting time and the number of documents and to eliminate factors that promote corruption and bribery.
