Luanda - The deputies of the National Assembly (AN) approved, on Thursday, Jan 16, in Luanda, the Proposal for a Legislative Authorization Law on the General Principles Relating to the Application of the New Indicative Structure of Salary Tables or Public Service Remuneration Supplement.
The proposal, assessed under the coordination of the 5th Economy and Finance committee, goes to the final global vote, to take place in the plenary session on the 22nd of this month.
The proposal envisages optimizing the organization and application of the indicative structure of salary tables and remuneration supplements for the public service, with a view to ensuring salary equity between employees and administrative agents included in the technical career and other careers under the general regime.
During the debate of the joint opinion report on the bill, deputies presented several contributions for the appropriate adjustments and frameworks, before it was approved in plenary.
The draft lawl aims mainly to adjust the salaries of public sector workers, promoting greater fairness and salary balance, with the main measures increasing the base salary by 25%, with a view to improving public employees' purchasing power, due to the economic situation marked by the increase in the cost of living.
The measure also reduces inequality between professional categories and harmonizes income in strategic sectors.
In addition to the (%) increase, the proposal introduces a new, more simplified and transparent salary table sheet, by reorganizing remuneration levels according to the qualifications and responsibilities of the positions.
The new salary chart was considered in 2024, during a session of the Cabinet Council, under the guidance of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.
Recently, the Angolan Executive reiterated that, from March 2025, it will pay the salaries of civil servants and administrative agents adjusted by 25%, retroactively for the months of January and February.
