Luanda - Angolan journalists who won the SADC Media Award 2023, in the categories of Press, Radio and Television, were awarded with certificates of merit.

This was during a ceremony sponsored by Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication held Monday in Luanda.

Received the certificates professionals Francisca Augusto and Venceslau Mateus from Angola Press Agency (ANGOP) in press category, Luís Mamana of National Radio of Angola (Radio) and Ernesto Bartolomeu of Public Television of Angola (Television).

In addition to the certificates, the winners of each category are entitled to US$2,500, and in the case of the press, the amount will be shared between the two journalists.

The ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Mário Oliveira, who highlighted the fact that Angola won, for the first time, three categories.

According to the official, the fact that the country won the first prize in the Radio and Television category in the 2022 edition, as well as the second in the Press, encouraged the Angolan professionals to this unprecedented achievement of the top three places in 2023.

The SADC Media Award was created in 1996 to encourage media and professionals in the region to play a leadership role in disseminating information about the Southern African Development Community to support the cooperation process. ML/ART/NIC
