Luanda - The Minister of Public Administration, Labor and Social Security, Teresa Dias, highlighted today, Friday, in Luanda, the role of women who work in the informal sector, as they contribute to the empowerment of families.

Speaking to the press, at the central event of International Women's Day, she said it was about the zungueiras women, the mothers who sell in the squares, who at the end of the day lead an active and exhausting life.

However, she regretted the fact that they were not preparing for the future, as social security issues were not taken care of, due to a lack of documentation.

According to the minister, looking at the employability sector, women, statistically, are in greater numbers compared to men, because they are the majority, but many are in the informal sector.

Therefore, she said that it is essential that they meet the requirements so that they can compete with men.

In this regard, she recalled that the Executive has implemented several training actions, not only in the field of public administration, but also in its own programs, where women have been engaged in training.

She recalled that, for four years, the government has implemented the Informal Economy Reconversion Program (PREI), to formalize these jobs, which essentially involves documenting them and registering them with social security.

In her opinion, the country already has, at the level of management bodies, a fairly balanced number of women, however, she stated, it is not enough to just fight for this fact, but it is essential to acquire skills and competencies for this purpose.

The central event celebrating the 8th of March took place at Cine Atlântico, in the presence of hundreds of women from various social backgrounds. JAM/ART/DOJ
