Luanda - The Minister of State for the Social Sector, Dalva Ringote, said on Tuesday in Luanda that the government had drawn up a "coherent and realistic" General State Budget proposal for the 2024 financial year.
Responding to Members of the Parliament (MPs) during the specialised assessment of the State Budget, she said that it was an objective plan, with the social sector at the centre of the agenda.
Dalva Ringote recalled that the social sector accounts for around 20 per cent of the 2024 State Budget, which represents an increase of three per cent.
She pointed out that the education sector has an absorption of 15.7 per cent, followed by health with 13.5 per cent of the estimated fiscal expenditure.
According to the Minister of State, the Government wants the State Budget to continue to protect Angolan families and their incomes, through the implementation of concrete measures.
In this regard, she emphasised the need to update civil service salaries, easing their tax burden, and ensuring new hires.
She said that Kwenda was still on the Executive's agenda and that by 2024 it was expected to have greater coverage, reaching 1.2 million families.
Dalva Ringote highlighted the government's commitment to gender equality.
"The government wants to ensure that women remain at the centre of political decisions, with a view to creating a fairer, more inclusive and sustainable society," she said. LIN/ART/DAN/DOJ
