Malanje- The Ministry of Public Administration, Labor and Social Security (MAPTSS) on Tuesday in northern Malanje province launched a public consultation process on the Youth Employment and Opportunities Project.
The National Institute for Employment and Vocational Training (INEFOP), is currently running the project funded by the World Bank, whose aim is to facilitate access to entrepreneurship and first jobs for young people aged 16 to 35.
To be implemented throughout the country in the four-year period 2025/2029, the initiative aims to promote the inclusion of young women in technical and vocational training in order to improve their incomes and strengthen the National Vocational Training System and upgrade the country's training centers.
Speaking at the opening of the consultation process, the INEFOP assistant director, António Agostinho Pereira, said the project arose from the lack of jobs opportunities for newly graduates, low quality of jobs and the difficulties faced by women in the labor market, among other problems in the Angolan labor market.
He underlined that the project intends to eliminate these barriers, in a context where unemployment levels reach around 33 per cent of young people, according to the most recent figures from the National Statistics Institute (INE).
After Malanje, the consultation will be held in Bié province. ACC/NC/PBC/DAN/AMP
