Huambo - The vice-president of the League to Support the Integration of the Disabled (Lardef), Adérito Fernandes, defended, on Thursday, in Huambo, the promotion of innovative solutions for the access of people with disabilities in the country's cities.

Adérito Fernandes was speaking at the monitoring meeting of the 'Change' project, which incorporates sexual reproductive health and the fight against gender-based violence, funded by the European Union, to promote inclusive development.

He argued that solutions should start with the introduction of projects to build social infrastructures in urban areas with access for disabled people, with the purpose of increasing the independent mobility of this social fringe in various parts of Angolan cities.

Adérito Fernandes suggested the need to review and change the current social infrastructures, from those erected in the colonial period, with the addition of appropriate passages for people with disabilities for positive human interaction.

He admitted that there is a joint effort by several Angolan organizations in partnership with the State aimed at the program to improve and change this situation, so that there is a greater appreciation of the human person in an unconditional way.

The responsible said that Lardef will always work and cooperate with the Government to contribute to sustainable development through the implementation of various social and economic programs in the communities for the benefit of the population.

'In our projects, the human person is placed at the center of all concerns on Lardef's agenda,' he emphasized.

On the other hand, the head of the Department of Social Action in the province of Huambo, Albino Fonseca Lumingo, praised Lardef's efforts related to the 'Change' project underway in the neighborhoods of Santo António and Casseque III, on the outskirts of the city of Huambo.

Therefore, he mentioned, the Government will strengthen relations with Lardef to enable several fundamental social projects to improve the living conditions of the populations in the communities.

The project, budgeted at 285,000 Euros, ends this year, after starting in 2023 by LARDEF in the provinces of Huambo, Benguela and Luanda. LT/ALH/DOJ
