Luanda - The National Institute of Social Security (INSS) reported, until December 31 of last year, the registration, in its base, of 259,725 taxpayers, 3,004,238 insured and 170,381 pensioners, the institution reports in an official document.

In a statement to which Angop had access today, Sunday, the INSS stresses that these numbers reinforce the goal of reaching 4.3 (four million and 300 thousand) insured people by 2027, as stipulated in the National Development Plan.

'The most recent data reflect the importance of the work carried out until December 31, 2024', emphasizes the National Institute of Social Security, which will hold, on the 27th and 28th of this month, its 2025 Consultative Council, at the Sapiens Institute Building, in Luanda, from 8 am to 5 pm.

According to the same note, the event will, among other subjects, focus precisely on this theme, and on the first day, it will be about the INSS Activity Plan for 2025 and the approach to the “New Covered Eventualities of Social Security”.

On the second day of the 2025 Advisory Council, the debates will include topics such as Public Administration Rules and Procedures, Public Asset Management, Mutual Associations and a broader vision of the future of Social Security in Angola.

The National Institute of Social Security is the entity responsible for managing the Social Protection System in Angola, and it was established in 1992. It is a Public Institute integrated in the indirect administration of the State, endowed with administrative, financial and patrimonial autonomy.

Its main role is to mitigate the effects of the reduction in workers' income in situations of lack or reduction of work capacity, maternity, unemployment and old age and to ensure the survival of their family members in the event of death.  MDS/DOJ
