Huambo - The provincial governor of the central Huambo province, Lotti Nolika, Friday recommended the prevention of human and material damages caused by natural calamities and the reduction of eminent risks in the communities, to avoid economic and social damages.
The governor made the statements during a meeting with Provincial Commission of Civil Protection, regarding the activities developed by the State, citizens and all public/private entities to prevent collective risks inherent to serious accidents or natural disasters to mitigate their effects through the protection and rescue of people and property whenever such situations occur.
From September 2019 to November 2020, at least 3,957 natural disasters were registered, from rains, strong winds and flooding rivers, causing the death of 70 people and 57 injured and others in Huambo province.
