Dundo - The governor of the north-eastern Lunda Norte Province, Deolinda Satula Vilarinho, reiterated Wednesday her executive's continued commitment to creating working conditions for Education agents, with a view to improving the quality of teaching and learning in the province.
The governor reiterated this challenge during the end-of-year greeting ceremony, highlighting that the social sector continues to be at the center of her government's priorities, where Education and Health occupy a privileged place.
For the 2022/2023 academic year, 16 new schools with 145 classrooms were built, equipped and opened, allowing the enlargement of the school network, which currently has 207 educational institutions, totaling 1,871 classes.
The enlagarment of the school network allowed the inclusion of 350 citizens in the normal education system, provided by 5,814 teachers.
She announced that in 2024, six new schools built within the scope of the Integrated Municipal Intervention Plan (PIIM) will be available in Chitato, Lubalo and Lucapa.
Lunda Norte registered 108 projects in PIIM, of which 49 are completed, 40 are ongoing and 17 are yet to be started.
On the other hand, she said that the local government will continue to invest in the specialization of doctors in the areas of general surgery, orthopedics, gynecological-obstetrics, internal medicine, general and family medicine, intensive care, with over 40 professionals currently undergoing training.
She said that the investment aims to ensure that citizens have access to special services without traveling to other parts of the country.
In 2023, the province gained 221 new professionals, including nurses, doctors, diagnostic and therapeutic technicians, hospital support, as part of the public entrance exam for the Health sector, held in 2022.
