Lumbala Nguimbo - Around 1,000 drought-hit families in Chicote city, eastern Moxico province, have benefited from support of 10 tonnes of various goods, as part of an initiative by the Moxico provincial government.
In that town, the drought has affected the ploughs and plantations of peasant families, causing the death of cattle, goats and pigs and forcing the population to feed on roots and wild fruit.
According to the municipal administrator of Bundas, Benilson Mbambi, in view of this concern, the government has supported these families with foodstuffs such as rice, pasta and cooking oil, sugar, salt, beans, cornflower, tinned food and used clothes.
Mbambi said the government will continue to provide the necessary support to ensure the well-being of these families.
Chicote is 262 kilometres southwest of Lumbala-Nguimbo city, Bundas municipality in eastern Moxico province. LTY/TC/YD/DAN/AMP
