Ndalatando - The governor of Cuanza Norte, João Diogo Gaspar, on Saturday visited the construction project of 450 social houses, in Ndalatando outskirts where more than 30 families displaced by the rains, in 2023, will be accommodated.
The visit aimed to find out about the progress of works for the urgent relocation of these families, currently living in containers and in inadequate accommodation conditions.
João Diogo Gaspar also expressed concern about the insistence of the population in building in risk areas, especially on mountain slopes, clarifying that the family transfer project should be carried out gradually, followed by another initiative to distribute spaces for directed self-construction.
The director of the Planning and Statistics Office of the Provincial Government, Keila Lima, clarified that the construction project for 450 T-3 housing units, which began in 2022, for a period of 26 months, is experiencing a slight delay due to financial issues.
With financing of four billion kwanzas, the project, which involves 40% physical execution and 20% payment, is being carried by three companies.
As part of his field activity, the governor also visited the Sassa, 28 de Agosto and Quibuangoma neighborhoods, where he learned about the work on cleaning the environment and collecting solid waste.
Accompanied by a delegation from his department, João Diogo listened to the concerns of the population and instructed the Municipal Administration of Cazengo to improve the garbage collection process, reinforce environmental fumigation actions and eliminate wastewater that is a source of various diseases.
