Luanda - The French ambassador to Angola, Sophie Aubert, on Tuesday in Luanda Province stated that her country's priority, in the bilateral cooperation being developed with the Angolan State, is to strengthen human capital.
Sophie Aubert, who was speaking at the end of a visit she made to the facilities of the Angola Press Agency (ANGOP), highlighted that France is developing very rich cooperation with Angola in the field of higher education.
“We also have scholarships that we can present to students who would wish to study in France and the possibility, with the Alliance Française, of supporting language teaching in order to have greater access to studies in French”, he said.
On the other hand, he highlighted the existence of cooperation in the linguistic field, which is effective with France's support in the reform program for the generalization of French language teaching with the Ministry of Education.
The diplomat also highlighted cooperation projects in technology, with the Agostinho Neto University, as well as in the archaeology sector with the aim of enumerating the country's natural heritage and better valuing it.
On the occasion, Sophie Aubert highlighted that a visit to ANGOP headquarters served to better understand the functioning of the institution and identify topics of common interest.
“I am very satisfied with everything, all the discussion we had, everything I had the opportunity to see here and it really is very interesting to meet our partners”, she highlighted.
Bilateral relations
Angola and France established diplomatic relations on February 17, 1976, extending to cooperation in several areas.
After the official visit of President João Lourenço to France, on May 28, 2018, the two countries' diplomatic relations recorded new developments.
The European country has a strong position in Angola, where it operates with more than 70 companies in different sectors.
Oil exports from Angola to France were around USD 400 million.
The European country intends to change and deepen trade relations with Angola, as part of the economic diversification underway in the country.
The priorities also include issues linked to industrialization, particularly in the areas of logistics, distribution and agribusiness.
