Saurimo- Roughly 16,763 vulnerable families in Saurimo City, eastern Lunda Sul Province, will start benefiting, as from the current month, from Monetary Transfers program of social assistance in the ambi of the governmental programme dubbed KWENDA.
The information was given this Friday by the interim director of the Social Suport Institute (FAS) in Lunda Sul, Nildo Mutambuleno, who clarified that each vulnerable family will receive 66,000 kwanzas (roughly 50 US dollars).
He went on to inform that since the year 2020, at least 21,887 households, out of roughly 38,760, have already benefited from the Kwenda money transfer.
Saurimo Municipality, capital of the eastern Lunda Stul Province, has an estimated population of 534,231 inhabitants.
The Kwenda program is getting a financing of USD 320,000 from the World Bank (WB) and USD 100 from the Angolan Treasury, thus making a sum total of USD 420 million. It is managed by the Social Suport Institute (FAS). JW/HD/jmc
