Ndalatando - The 31 families who lived in containers after being displaced by the rain in April 2020 in Ndalatando, Cuanza-Norte Province, received their new homes on Thursday.
The three-bedroom homes were built by the Government of Cuanza-Norte in Quilómetro Onze neighborhood, located 11 kilometers from the city of Ndalatando, and all of them include drinking water supplied by an artesian well installed on site, electricity from the public grid and roads.
The provincial governor of Cuanza-Norte, João Diogo Gaspar, who handed over the homes, stated that the government's main concern was to get the families out of the containers and put them in better living conditions.
In their message, the beneficiaries praised the gesture of the Cazengo Administration and the Provincial Government, saying that the action puts an end to four years of suffering.
The message read by Tércio do Espírito Santo, recalled that after being rehoused, they continued to suffer from rainwater infiltration into the containers that did not offer living conditions.
Data from the Cazengo municipal administration indicate that more than 150 families, victims of the rains, remain displaced in Ndalatando, living in precarious conditions in relatives' and rented houses. DS/YD/MRA/DOJ
