Namibe - Vice-President Esperança da Costa reaffirmed the need for intervention in the Tchitundo-Hulu cave paintings, aiming at the conservation of the property and, consequently, the effective classification as world Heritage site.
Speaking to the press at the end of the 72-hour journey to Namibe, she highlighted that these paintings are identified on the list as candidates for UNESCO world cultural heritage and, certainly, that "there is a set of actions to begin soon, to make the requirements adequate ".
Esperança da Costa expressed satisfaction at being in Virei, an occasion that served not only to observe the “great potential” from an economic point of view, but above all because Tchitundo Hulu represents an open field for research.
She considers that the presence of rock art is scientific evidence that there were other civilizations in remote times and is an open field for research tourism that may aim to bring several experts and allies, local experts, to form networks, in order to recreate what the biodiversity associated with those times would be.
For the Vice-President, Tchitundo Hulu has all the potential for an intervention.
Okulinonga Project
Regarding the Okulinonga project, by the provincial government of Namibe, Esperança da Costa believes it is a good initiative and that the program can be replicated in the surrounding provinces that have the same phenomenon.
According to the director, Okulinonga is a program that aims to be an innovative and educational response for children who are linked to livestock transhumance, moving from one point to another,
It also considered it to be an integrative, inclusive program that promotes community development.
Drought
On the other hand, she said, the planting of trees carried out in the municipality of Virei is a clear sign of the Executive's permanent concern with the issue of drought that is paining that locality and other provinces of the country and for which there is already a well-designed program, which is being implemented to combat the drought in the country's southern region.
"Virei is one of the municipalities with the highest incidence of drought and more tree plantings must be carried out, as well as more environmental education, in order to reverse the current situation", she advised.
