Luanda – Seven officers of the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME) were detained this Tuesday, in Luanda, by the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC), on accusation of involvement in national passport scams.
The information was given to ANGOP by the director of the SIC press office, Manuel Halaiwa, who revealed that the detainees might be charged with the crimes of criminal association, improper receipt of advantages, passive corruption, among other illicit acts.
During the operation, the SIC seized several materials and also twelve ordinary passports in possession of one “collaborator” in the scam.
ANGOP has learnt that the suspects used to receive extra money to issue passports in record time, without having to go through the standard procedures.
