Luanda - More than three hundred children from various children's and shelter centers in the provinces of Luanda and Cabinda celebrated today, Wednesday (20), the early Christmas with the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, and the First Lady, Ana Dias Lourenço.

The activity, called 'The Wheel of Love', took place at the Presidential Palace of Cidade Alta, in Luanda, with the motto 'The Magic of Green' and the Maiombe forest as a backdrop, through playful-didactic activities.

The children, with the guidance of teachers and kindergarten teachers, learned the importance of protecting the forest biome, and also the concept of the '3 Rs' Reduce, Recycle and Reuse, in order to avoid waste and reduce the production of solid waste.

The children also learned how to make ecological and organic gardens using small pots, wooden boxes, old tires and even plastic bottles.

In the presence of the Minister of Education, Luísa Grilo and the Governor of Cabinda, Mara Quiosa, the children accepted the challenge launched by the First Lady Ana Dias Lourenço, so that each one takes, to their shelter center or school, seeds and seedlings of plants for the creation of small gardens that, according to her, will have the proper monitoring and the most beautiful will be awarded.

During the early Christmas party, the children also had contact with some specimens of the flora of the Maiombe Forest and illustrations of its fauna, with emphasis on the gorilla.

On the occasion, the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, conveyed his affection to the little ones, thanked everyone for their presence, recalled that the Presidential Palace is not only the President's house but 'the house of the people, the home of all Angolans' and wished happy parties to all children.

The First Lady told the children that it is important to believe in their dreams and in the power of thought, 'if we think of good things, positive things happen,' Ana Dias Lourenço said.

The 'Wheel of Love' platform, aimed at children in early childhood, began in 2017, with a process of promoting fundamental social values and principles.

Children's Christmas in the central format of the 'Wheel of Love' seeks, every year, to propose a theme aligned with the mission, vision and values of the initiative. More than just a party, it is intended to be a process of aprendizagem.MR/ADR/DOJ
