Luanda - The coordinator of the Multi-Sectoral Commission for Support to the Provincial Government of Luanda, Carolina Cerqueira, Monday encouraged residents to cooperate with the authorities in the process of collecting solid waste, in order to avoid new areas of rubbish in the city in the future.

According to the official, who was speaking to the press at the end of a visit to check the collection process underway in the nine municipalities, residents should be disciplined and respect the basic rules for packaging waste.

From her point of view, it is important that this message is passed on, particularly in churches and schools, to alert society of the need to deposit rubbish in the containers that have been replaced since Monday.

Carolina Cerqueira said that, despite the constraints derived from the current hygienic situation, the contact maintained with the population leaves the idea that they welcomed the initiative of carrying out the mega-cleaning campaign.

In this campaign, which will last indefinitely, 12 cleaning companies are involved, supported by personnel from the Angolan Armed Forces and members of civil society, including traditional operators in the market.
