Malanje- The Metropolitan Archbishop of Malanje, Dom Luzizila Kiala on Friday called for the mobilization of young Catholics to denounce and combat acts of vandalism of public property, a practice reaching alarming rates in the country and Malanje province, in particular.

The religious leader made the appeal during the opening of the third local Catholic Youth Day, which brings together around 200 young people from the parishes and missions that make up the Archdiocese of Malanje.

“If a young person vandalizes and steals public property – which belongs to everyone – he lives in darkness”, the archbishop said, underlining the need for a joint effort to change this behavior to aid those living in darkness to return to the light and cultivate the feeling of love and unity.

The Archbishop defended the need for a fight against selflessness, divisions, slander and lies among youth, to give way to generosity, empathy, dedication to others and joy.

He requested young believers to join the international Catholic movement fighting against the forces of evil and sin, with a view to collaborating in the church evangelizing mission.

The event running under the motto "Pilgrims of Hope", the third Catholic Youth Day of Malanje started Thursday and ends on Sunday, covering topics such as Stories and Experiences of the Days, Rules of Etiquette, History about the Black Stones of Pundo -Andongo, among others, in addition to visits to different tourist attractions in the province.

The event aims to promote the development of young people in different dimensions, with emphasis on education and evangelizing.

The archdiocesan day of Malanje precedes the national youth day scheduled for 2025. ACC/PBC
