Menongue – At least 41 children and young people from the "Padre João Bosco" reception center, in the city of Menongue, Province of Cuando Cubango, benefited on Saturday, from a solidarity lunch, offered by the Provincial Association of Mixed Martial Arts (APMMA).
In addition to the meal, the children, aged between nine and 20, were taught martial techniques of self-defense, in the spirit of human integrity, all on the basis of exercising physical activities, for spiritual, mental and bodily health, under the "Crime Zero" project.
At the time, the director of the "Padre João Bosco" reception center, Maria Zelia Pinto, assigned to the Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady of Vitória, considered the gesture an action of humanism, as the institution, without any budget, needs more support to accommodation, food and teaching of the protected.
To this end, it has continually requested support from all institutions to allow the process of reintegration of those welcomed to be successful, given the fact that it is an arduous task, especially at this time when the country is going through bad times, socially and economically.
In turn, the chairman of the provincial association of Mixed Martial Arts in Cuando Cubango, Adriano Sabalo, said that the act of solidarity is one of the points that the sports institution brings together, through solidarity action in order to provide support to people in need.
He informed that APMMA develops, in its line of action, sporting events, as an act of social inclusion, the "Crime Zero" project, through responsible sports education to rescue young people from delinquency to provide alternative opportunities in society and social events, in a team action.
Created on June 10, 2023, it won the title of runner-up in Angola, even after its foundation in July 2023 with the qualification of five athletes in the National Team, of which three have already participated in the African Championship and two became champions in the same year. ALK/FF/ALH/MRA/DOJ
