Luanda - Angola took part in the formalization and pre-launch of the Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty that took place during the G20 Development Ministerial Meeting held Wednesday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Angola’s Minister of State for Economic Matters, José de Lima Massano, led the Angolan delegation at the event chaired by the Brazilian president, Lula da Silva.
Speaking at the event, José de Lima Massano said the eradication of poverty in all its dimensions is an ethical, social, political and economic imperative for all of humanity.
The Angolan delegation to the event, considered the event to be opportune and pertinent, in the light of the country's priorities and goals set out in the National Development Plan 2022-2027, especially regarding eradicating hunger and fighting poverty.
The event aimed to broaden the bases for eradicating hunger, poverty and inequality in the world.
With the formalization and pre-launch of the Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty, the conditions have been created for countries and institutions around the world to join the initiative.
The Rio de Janeiro meeting established a practical mechanism to mobilize financial resources and knowledge from various countries and international entities to support the implementation and expansion, on a global scale, of actions, public policies and effective programs developed by different countries and institutions to combat inequality and poverty.
Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty will be definitively and officially launched in November during the G20 Leaders' Summit. PA/TED/AMP
