Rome- Angola is participating in the United Nations Pre-Summit on Food Systems, which will take place in Rome, between 26 and 28 of this month, with a delegation headed by the Minister of State for Social Affairs, Carolina Cerqueira.
The forum, co-organized by the United Nations and the Italian Government, is a precedent to the Summit on Food Systems, to be held within the framework of the Decade of Action for the achievement of the 2030 Agenda.
The Summit on Food Systems will be held in parallel with the 76th United Nations General Assembly, to be held from 14-30 September 2021 in New York.
The aim of the summit is to generate progress on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through a Food Systems approach, leveraging the interconnection with global challenges such as hunger, climate change, poverty and inequalities.
The Angolan delegation also includes the Secretaries of State for Foreign Affairs, Esmeralda Mendonça, for Fisheries, Esperança Costa, and the Permanent Representative of Angola to the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), Maria de Fátima Jardim.
