Luanda - Angola’s Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication (MINTICS officially launched a new domain.ao service on Friday in Luanda, an identity address of Angola on the Internet.
The process, conducted by the National Institute for Promotion of the Information Society (INFOSI), is a digital platform where national companies can register and sell products, to help to improve the security of these goods.
The incumbent minister, Mário Oliveira, considered the event highly significant for the country, in particular for all those who make cybernetic science as part of lifestyle.
According to him, the main objective of launching the new service in the domain.ao is to protect the interests of the citizens and companies in the world of the Internet. "The launch of a page for managing the domain.

The official underlined that this will greatly facilitate the identification of national companies and international organisations in cybernetic space.
In Angola, he added, there is a growing number of young people entering the job market, and the Internet is a fertile and generous space for creating businesses at low cost and with a worldwide reach, referring, in this chapter, to young creators and "start ups".
Mário Oliveira explained that the growth from around 400 domains registered in 2018 to around six thousand domains in 2023, is already remarkable.
In turn, the director of INFOSI, André Pedro, said that the objective of this platform is to empower the Information Technology sector in Angola with a new improved e-commerce application for the registration and private management of domains with the .ao suffix.
"The equipping of this new application with new business-level tools, specifically to meet the needs resulting from the organic growth we have witnessed in the registration of domains as well as licensing, for the first time, companies approved by INFOSI to exercise the full activity of Resellers Authorized Officials of domains with suffix "ao", he explained.
