Lubango – The provincial governor of Huila province Nuno Mahapi assured that the new drinking water collection and distribution plant at Quilemba housing project, in Lubango, entered the testing phase this week and its effective operation is scheduled for August.
The governor stated that this public infrastructure has a production capacity of 340 cubic meters/hour through 19 artesian wells built in the “three bridges” area and will respond to the needs of the approximately 60 thousand inhabitants of the conglomerate's 8,500 residences.
The construction work on the water treatment and distribution system for the Quilemba housing project began in 2022, comprising 19 collection holes, an estimated flow of 340 cubic meters/hour, treated and raw water pipelines, pumping stations, whose capacity is 360 cubic meters/hour.
Located northeast of the city of Lubango, the center was built 20 kilometers from the city in an area of 1,100 hectares.
It has 8,500 houses, a project that includes detached and semi-detached houses, two-and three-bed-room apartment buildings, and more than 80% of these are already inhabited, in an occupation process that began in 2019. MS/CF/DOJ
