Road accidents caused 27 deaths over weekend in Angola

Luanda - Twenty-seven people died last weekend in Angola as a result of 73 road accidents, representing an increase of 10 deaths compared to the previous week, Superintendent João de Sousa, reported on Monday in Luanda.

According to him, there was an increase of 12 accidents compared to the same period in the previous week, causing 131 injuries, 46 more than before.

At the time, he highlighted an accident that occurred on Saturday, the 10th, in the municipality of Quipungo, province of Huíla, which involved a heavy passenger car, which caused 6 deaths and 8 injuries, as well as the collision between a car and a motorcycle, in the municipality of Tomboco, province of Zaire, which resulted in three deaths and two injuries.

He also informed that the province of Luanda had the highest accident records with 11, with a reduction of five, which caused three deaths (minus two) and 14 injuries (plus one), followed by Huíla, with 7 accidents (minus one), five deaths (three more) and five injured (one more).

“In relation to weekend days, Sunday was the day with the most accidents, 30, the deadliest day, with 14, and Friday was the day that had the most consequences in terms of injuries, 69”, he said.

With regard to crimes against transport safety, he reported a record of 28 of which 27 were for drunk driving and one for illegal driving. CPM/OHA/MRA/DOJ
