Ndalatando – Awareness campaigns for cholera prevention are being carried out in the municipality of Ambaca by local health authorities, as a result of the outbreak affecting some countries in Southern Africa.
Speaking this Wednesday to ANGOP, the municipal director of Health, Inocêncio João José, said that sector technicians are advising the population to take greater care of personal, home and community hygiene.
Citizens are also being advised to wash their hands with soap and water several times a day, especially after using the bathroom, before and after meals, as well as boiling water to drink.
He called on the population to be aware of the symptoms and go to a health unit at the first signs of the disease, which is contagious.
The official also explained that the health authorities are carrying out this action, mainly because the municipality borders Uige, a province bordering Democratic Congo.
This is also the basis of the campaign, the holding of the regional fair that takes place every Friday, in Camabatela, the seat of the municipality.
However, the Public Health sector in the municipality warned about the basic sanitation conditions in the environment, due to the lack of landfills and containers.
According to authorities, there are more and more piles of rubbish in the municipality and at this time rainwater mixes with water from water holes, consumed by the population. IMA/ART/CF/DOJ
