Caála - The interim representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Angola, Humphrey Karamagi, Thursday encouraged good health approaches to communities to strengthen epidemiological prevention strategies.
The WHO representative made the statement during a meeting with administrative authorities, community agents and health promoters of several communities in the western corridor of Huambo city.
Karamagi said the organization will continue with technical guidance to define the best approaches to epidemiological prevention and deepen institutional partnership with the Ministry of Health to improve the most appropriate health methodologies for communities.
He stated that the most important thing is a better understanding of the health sector in the country and in Huambo, in particular, underlining that contact with communities and administrative authorities made it possible to understand the sector's difficulties and seek solutions.
The meeting served to learn about local health approaches and deepen the methodological dynamics, in terms of health to reduce cases of meningitis, measles, tetanus and other neglected tropical diseases in communities to reduce the fatality rate.
The municipality of Caála, for example, registered between January and September of this year, 19 cases of meningitis, 374 of measles, one case of tetanus and eight of rabies.
