Lubango -The municipalities of Gambos, Caluquembe, Quilengues, Chicomba and Chipindo, in Huila province, on Wednesday were reinforced with ambulance and administrative vehicle, in order to minimize the lack of means of support to the health sector.
The means were delivered by the governor of Huila, Nuno Mahapi. Each municipality received an ambulance equipped for the process of transferring patients, under the responsibility of the Municipal Hospital and an administrative vehicle that will be in the responsibility of the Municipal Health Director.
Speaking after the reception of the means, Caluquembe administrator, Mariana Soma, said the vehicles arrive at an 'timely' time, as they are two ambulances are damaged, so it will facilitate the communication flow between the various units in County.
He said now for three functional ambulances, the current one, one attributed in January of the year ongoing to the Evangelical Hospital of Caluquembe and a third with a few years of use that has supported the Calepi commune.
Already the chipind administrator, Helder Lourenço, said that the new means will be able to give better response to health, which now reinforce the work of the three existing acquired for over 10 years, in an obsolete state.
Therefore, the skunk administrator, Francisco Barros Leonardo, stressed that they had only one ambulance, 'quite' old 'who could not stand the demand of the patients who were to be evacuated to the reference hospitals.
'We often had to resort to inappropriate means, in our reach, just to protect life and avoid deaths, but with this new ambulance the issue is outdated. We would need more ambulances to distribute in each of the city's three health centers, 'he said.
In turn, Governor Nuno Mahapi said that the difficulties are numerous and the number of ambulances received can start to solve the problems, as they gave the municipalities with more difficulties, depending on the tiny number they received.
He explained that the choice of municipalities to receive was due to the lack of the means and are more inside the province, with precarious access roads and with these ambulances the situation will be minimized and with the improvement of mobility conditions for health officials .
'We understand that quality is not directly linked to the means, but with more investments we have to do in human resources and even in building more centers and health posts, but the most important thing is to work on prevention to achieve the great interests of the population that welcomes the services, 'he said.
He has known that the goal is to treat all municipalities in the same proportion, but resources are scarce, but concern for more means for others is still a challenge in Huila. EM/MS/DOJ
