Luanda - Angola's National Institute of Medical Emergencies (INEMA) has mobilized at least 766 professionals of different specialties on standby to deal with possible accidents from December 24 to January 1, 2025, the director general of the health institution, José Azevedo Ekumba, said Saturday.
This professional contingent, which will cover the entire holiday season (Christmas and New Year's Eve), includes 17 doctors, 590 nurses and 159 drivers.
Speaking to ANGOP after the presentation of the strategic plan to secure the festive season, Ekumba added that 126 ambulances have been prepared, including 34 basic life support vehicles, 77 advanced life support vehicles and 15 support vehicles.
According to the director general of Angola's National Institute for Medical Emergencies, telephone contacts have also been made available on the institution's digital platforms and social networks for people to call in case of need.
"In addition to Luanda, we will also have relief points in the city of Benguela, at the Catumbela Paulo Teixeira Jorge International Airport, in Lobito, Catengo, in the municipality of Bocoio and in Canjala," said José Azevedo Ekumba.
He appealed to the population to avoid excessive consumption of food and alcohol, explaining that overeating can lead to food poisoning.SL/MDS/AMP
