Lubango – Lubango’s central hospital “Dr. António Agostinho Neto” will have, later this semester, a new operating room dedicated to pediatric surgeries, offered by the British NGO Kids Operating Room (KidSor).
KidSor is a Scottish charity founded by Garreth and Nicola World in 2018. With this new offer, whose works are now complete, the hospital now has five surgery rooms.
The charity sets up pediatric operating rooms in low-middle-income countries, with the aim of ensuring access to safe surgeries for children that needs.
The room, which has the capacity to treat six patients daily, is equipped with technological resources and will work on children diagnosed with cleft lip, those with difficulty speaking and swallowing food, as well as carrying out surgeries in urology, orchiditis, high complexity of urology and urethral osterosis.
Speaking today, Thursday, to ANGOP, in Lubango, the hospital general director of that, Lina Antunes, made it known that this block will operate with seven professionals trained in the specialties of sterilization, intensive care and others.
The doctor stated that the room is designed to also perform minimal access maxillofacial surgery and small hernia cases.
She highlighted the objective of the central hospital is to carry out works with short anesthesia and minimal access to children who enter the surgery room in the morning and are released in the late afternoon.
He also highlighted, in the near future, the inauguration of a hemotherapy room and a new blood donation and conservation service, which is also only dependent on the import of equipment.
The hospital has a number of 843 workers, including doctors, nurses, support and administrative staff, but its organic staff goes up to 2,120 technicians. JT/MS/CF/DOJ
