Cabinda - The Provincial Health Secretariat in Cabinda will implement, starting this month, a program to prevent and combat vector-borne diseases that will include the free distribution of mosquito nets and the smoking of neighborhoods and villages.
The information was provided on Saturday by the head of the Public Health Department, Gabriel Nionje, adding that the technical conditions for the implementation of the aforementioned program have been assured.
He reported that the province has essential drugs to combat malaria, as well as tuberculosis.
The program to distribute mosquito nets to pregnant women aims to reduce maternal and child mortality from malaria, he said.
He advised the population to go to health services at the first symptoms of the disease.
The province of Cabinda has been recording an increase in malaria cases, due to the heavy rains that hit the region. ING/PL/OHA/DOJ
