Cuito – The health authorities in the central province of Bié so far reported 52 cases of measles, which are being treated in the different hospital units in the municipality of Cuíto.
The information was provided on Wednesday, by the provincial health director, João Campos Cacungula, during the first ordinary meeting of the government of Bié, chaired by governor Celeste Adolfo.
João Cacungula, who presented the current situation regarding this disease and cholera, said that cases of measles began to be reported since the beginning of the year, with no deaths registered.
Recently, the health authorities of this province announced the existence of 50k doses of measles vaccine for immunization of children from 5 to 9 years of age.
The vaccines have already been distributed in health units with conservation conditions (cold chains).
As for cholera, so far the province has registered no positive cases.
