Luanda - The minister of State and Head of the Security Affairs Office of the President of the Republic, Francisco Pereira Furtado, announced this Friday, in Luanda, the reception, on Sunday of over 920.000 doses of Sinopharm vaccine.
According to the minister, who was speaking to the press on the sidelines of a visit to assess the functioning of some vaccination posts in around Luanda Province, the new batch will reinforce the stock of the Sinopharm vaccine, one of the four vaccines against Covid-19 in use in Angola.
“The stock will be replaced. We continue to administer the first dose and the second one is already safeguarded”, he said.
On the occasiuon, Francisco Pereira Furtado said that the strategy, to avoid disturbances is to increase the number of vaccination posts in Luanda.
According to the minister, in recent days there has been an increase in daily administered vaccines, with an average of 30.000 vaccines per day.
He informed that only on Thursday, 9, there was a record of 56,000 vaccinated citizens, while this Friday, 10, there were more than 60,000 vaccinated.
“The population is responding, so obviously people feel that the vaccine is important for their protection”, he said.
The coordinator of the high-performance vaccination post of Cidadela, Esperança Belo, took the opportunity to appeal the population to join the vaccination posts.
She also advised mothers not to take children to the vaccination posts.
In turn, the coordinator of the high-performance vaccination post in Cacuaco, Victor Teta, said that the situation had returned to normal, given the incident that took place on Thursday 9.
The Minister of State and Head of the Office of Security of the President of the Republic, Francisco Pereira Furtado, paid a visit to the two high-performance vaccination posts accompanied by the minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, and the Governor of Luanda, Ana Paula de Carvalho.
