Luena - Zambia is committed to improve the roads linking Angola, specifically between the Western and North-Western provinces and Angola’s Moxico province, the minister for the Western region, Kapelwa Mbangueta, said Thursday.
The Zambian minister made the statement during the First Angola/Zambia Business Forum, which work on the road linking Mongu, the capital of Western province, to Chicango, a region bordering the Angolan municipality of Alto Zambeze, in Moxico province, that is currently in the final stages.
According to the Zambian official, local efforts are being made to build other roads linking the municipal regions of Alto Zambezi and Bundas, from Zambia's Western and North-Western provinces.
Mbangueta said that in terms of compliance with the Angolan side, the "agreements are well advanced," and that the business community should be prepared for the time horizons for completion of the work not to be exceeded, although he did not give any dates for works to be finished.
In a brief reference to the Lobito Corridor, an important continental platform, the Zambian official pointed out that it would bring advantages to his country in terms of miners export through the Benguela Railroad (CFB).
The Zambian official added that he is convinced that the projects in question, together with the agreements that will be signed after the First Angola-Zambia Business Forum, will be able to boost investment in both regions of the two countries.
"We are calling for businesspeople from my country and Angola to be able to sign practical agreements at this meeting," he said. YD/TED/AMP
