Ramiros - The vice-president of the ruling MPLA, Luísa Damião, held a courtesy meeting on Friday in Luanda with the Burundi ambassador to Angola, Evelyne Butoiy, with whom she discussed, among other things, issues related to cooperation and women's empowerment.
The meeting, which took place at the Futungo 2 Complex, was an opportunity for the two women to talk about education, health, transport, energy, oil and gas.
Speaking at the end of the meeting, Evelyne Butoiy said her country intends to raise the level of cooperation with Angola in various areas.
Angola and Burundi, member countries of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), have a general agreement on economic, technical, scientific and cultural cooperation, as well as regular political and diplomatic consultations.
Early on Wednesday, Angolan president João Lourenço accredited Evelyne Butoiy as Burundi's non-resident ambassador to Angola.
Evelyne Butoiy is a journalist, with extensive experience in the media in her country and has held various positions in the Burundian government.
