Luanda - The Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, addressed on Tuesday, with religious leaders, issues linked to the partnership between the Government and the Church, mainly in the social domain.

The conversation happened during the audience with the Council of Christian churches in Angola (CICA)’s general secretary, Valdemir Agostinho, and with the bishop of the Southern African Countries of the Methodist Episcopal Church, Reverend Bernardo Ngunza.

Issues related to the church's participation in preserving moral and civic values, promoting child well-being and raising awareness among the faithful about the population census, which will take place from the 19th of this month, were on the table.

Speaking to the press, Valdemir Agostinho, said the organization has been working on issues related to combating poverty in the provinces of Benguela, Zaire and Cuanza-Sul, mainly in the areas of health, education and basic sanitation.

Regarding education, he defended special education for children with some disorders, mainly autism, suggesting the adoption of policies to reduce the prices of medical exams for this social group.

He added that the Vice-President noted the existence of policies aimed at dealing with these situations, adding that CICA took the opportunity to present the work carried out on translating the Bible.

He explained that this work consists of translating the Bible into national languages, to preserve culture, offering 6 copies in the most varied national vernacular languages.

In turn, Reverend Bernardo Ngunza said he presented the organization's strengths, focused on young people's primary education, health and spiritual life.

In the same line, also on Tuesday, Vice-President Esperança da Costa received in audience the head of the Council of Revival Churches of Angola (CIRA), Nsuzi António, with whom she talked aspects related to agriculture, health, education and children and women's rights.
